Resolutions into Reality - Barrie ON - December - January, 2016-7
One of the most difficult turning points in life is New Years day and during the start of the New Year most people make resolutions about lifestyle changes. How many of us have said something like ‘from now on things are going to be different, I am going to stop smoking, eat healthy, exercise regularly, spend more time with family and friends, quit drinking, enjoy life more, help others, or get out of debt?’ Yet, still filled with good intentions, before January’s end these resolutions either fail or falter.
“How do we break the cycle of breaking our personal resolutions? First of all it is important to understand that, resolutions are a process, not a one-time effort of will power that offers you a chance to create new habits,” says Donald Gordon Carty creator and facilitator of the two-evening workshop ‘Resolutions Into Reality’. Trying to change and do something positive for ourselves is the fastest way to come right up against our deepest sources of resistance and come face-to-face with our most negative beliefs and self-sabotaging tendencies. And that’s why we fail or falter. So, rather than deny this dynamic, I like to show people how to be aware of the subtle forces that are at work in their minds and bodies and their tendencies to go unconscious in certain situations. I am delighted to be able to offer this two-evening workshop again in the Atlanta area that will give participants insights that will add support to their New Year or not-so-New Year’s resolutions.”
The two-evening “Resolutions Into Reality” workshop, sponsored by the Personal Development Institute and Awaken Forums, will be held over two evenings Tuesday January 27th and Thursday January 29th, 2015 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm and pre-registration is required.
“Research concludes that the people who succeed at making lifestyle changes typically have support systems and find that getting into the right mindset is the first priority”, says Carty “and resolutions are not a one-size-fits-all commodity because each of us has experienced the world differently and largely depends on our individual beliefs and perceptions that make up our personalities and preferences. The ‘Resolutions Into Reality’ workshop will encourage participants to change their frames of reference by critically reflecting on their assumptions and beliefs and consciously making and implementing plans that bring about new ways of defining their worlds.”
